At Crossroads Hope Academy, our mission is to provide a safe and secure home where teen foster boys (12-17 years old) are encouraged to love themselves, have faith, and develop relationships to best prepare them for the future.
According to a Casey Foundation report on placement stability in foster care, “children with multiple placements had between 36 and 63 percent greater risk of developing behavioral challenges than did children in stable placements. Multiple placements have also been found to lead to delayed permanency outcomes, academic difficulties, and struggles to develop meaningful attachments.”
The boys we take in have been to an average of 14-16 placements prior to coming to Crossroads. They are difficult to place due to behaviors, legal charges, a history of running away from their foster placements, or multiple previous failed placements, including school placements. Our boys are often academically challenged and have extensive therapeutic needs. Additionally, many of them struggle with social and life skills.
Our staff works to retrieve these kids from despair and help them grow and transition into well-adjusted and self-sufficient adults by utilizing collaborative problem solving, working together to solve youth problems and build healthy relationships with the adults in their lives instead of focusing solely on youth behaviors.
In the end, our vision is that every youth feels loved, has hope for the future, and becomes a contributing member of society. We invite you to join us in making this happen.
For years, our original Crossroads home has been a safe haven for boys in foster care — a place where stability, structure, and compassion come together to create lasting change.
